SESH is a studio management tool — calendar sync, accounting, equipment inventory, and a booking widget you can put on your own website, for your own clients. It also includes an optional public marketplace where guests can discover and book recording studios, rehearsal spaces, gear, and session players directly. Either way, SESH is a tool, not a party to the booking — you decide who you work with.
Yes, creating an account on SESH is completely free. You can browse listings and create your own profile without any cost.
Simply search for your desired service or location, click on a listing you like, select your dates/times, and click "Request to Book". The host has 48 hours to accept or decline. If they do not answer in that time, the request expires on its own and you are refunded in full — you do not have to chase it.
You are charged when you send the booking request, not when the host accepts. The money is then held by SESH rather than paid straight to the host — if the host declines, or lets the request expire without answering, you are refunded in full. Once the session is done, the host is paid 24 hours later.
Yes, but only if both sides agree. Either of you can propose a new date and time in the booking's message thread, and it takes effect when the other person accepts it. A confirmed booking is an agreement between two people with money already held against it, and the session's end time is what decides when the host gets paid — so neither side can move it on their own. It also means a booking has to be changed here on SESH, where both people see the change and the payout date follows along with it.
Hosts set their own cancellation policy, shown on every listing before you book. Flexible means a full refund up to 24 hours before your session, Moderate up to 5 days before, and Strict up to 14 days before. Cancel inside that window and you get everything back. Cancel outside it and the booking is non-refundable. If the host cancels or declines, you are always refunded in full.
Listing your space or gear is free! SESH only takes a fee when you successfully get a booking.
Your payout is released 24 hours after your session's scheduled end time, automatically — you do not have to request it. Before that, the guest's payment is held by SESH rather than sitting in your account, which is what lets us sort out a problem if one comes up. Once released, it lands in your Stripe balance and Stripe pays out to your bank on its normal schedule.
SESH charges one fee, on one side, and it's a processing fee, not a commission — the same way a card processor charges a merchant, not the customer. Hosts pay 3% out of their payout, and guests pay no service fee at all — the price on the listing is the price you pay. So on a $100 booking, the guest pays $100 and the host receives $97. The rate is the same for everyone — paid plans add tools and placement, they don't change the fee.
SESH holds the guest's payment until the session is done, then releases your earnings automatically 24 hours after it ends. That hold protects both sides — it leaves a window to sort out a problem before money moves. From there Stripe deposits to your bank on its normal schedule, usually a couple of business days. Set your payout account up right in your Host Dashboard; you never have to leave SESH.
Yes. From your Host Dashboard's Promos tab you can create a code that's a percentage off, a flat dollar amount off, or a fixed total price. That last one is useful when you're not really running a sale — you just want to use SESH as the payment and verification layer for a one-off deal you already agreed to elsewhere, like sending a client an invoice for an exact number instead of your listed rate.
No. A promo code you create only ever discounts your own share of the booking — any roster talent booked as an add-on is still paid their full listed rate, untouched by your code.
Yes, on Boost and above. The Marketing tab lets you send to your followers, past guests, anyone who's saved one of your listings, or a list you upload yourself, with a monthly send allowance included in your plan (500 on Boost, 2,000 on Premium, 8,000 on Top Shelf). It comes with a simple email builder — a hero image, bold/italic/links, a button — sent from SESH with your name on it, but replies land straight in your own inbox.
Yes, on Top Shelf. Write it whenever, pick a date and time at least 15 minutes out, and SESH sends it automatically — no need to be at your computer when it goes. You can cancel a scheduled send any time before it goes out.
Yes — every email includes a real unsubscribe link, and once someone uses it they're removed from marketing emails platform-wide, not just from you. Anyone you upload yourself has to be someone who actually agreed to hear from you; SESH isn't a tool for cold-emailing a list you bought or scraped.
We recommend hosts require a security deposit or insurance verification for high-value gear. Because SESH holds a booking's funds until 24 hours after the session ends, there is a window to raise a problem before the host is paid — message us through Support as soon as something goes wrong and we can hold the payout while we look into it. That hold is what SESH can offer; it isn't insurance, and SESH doesn't vet, guarantee, or take responsibility for who a host chooses to work with — see our Terms of Service.
Yes. Reviews can only be written by users who have actually completed a booking with that specific host or guest. This ensures feedback is authentic and trustworthy.
